Chyi Chung

Chyi Chung is a Distinguished Senior Lecturer of Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University. She was born in Taiwan, grew up in Honduras and has lived in Chicago for 15+ years. She received her M.S. in Hispanic Studies from Tamkang University in Taiwan and her M.A. in Spanish Language and Literature from Loyola University at Chicago. She has taught Spanish, Chinese and Hispanic culture courses at Northwestern since 1997 and has won several teaching awards: awarded the Art and Sciences Alumni Teaching Award in WCAS for 2009-2010, awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award in the School of Continuing Studies for 2008-2009, named twice with the Faculty Honor Roll by the Associated Student Government in 2006-2007 and 2003-2004, honored by the Northwestern University Athlete Department in football (2003) and volleyball (2005) home games.

She also has involved in several linguistic projects; member of Editorial Board for McGraw-Hill Higher Education and FLTRP (publishing partner in Beijing, Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press); co-author of Hewlett Fund Award: New Online Spanish Placement Exam at Northwestern (2007), Spanish translator of “Lexitown”–a collabotary project of Northwestern University funded by the Illinois State Board of Education (2003), co-evaluator of “Internet-based Interactive Foreign-Language Learning” awarded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation (2002), co-reviewer of Hewlett Fund Award: Spanish Online Program “ Intergaláctico”(2001), co-reviewer of Yeong-Dah Spanish/Chinese Dictionary, Taiwan (1992).
